Consider/Approve Student Locker Bid for South Fulton High School

Background Information:

In addition to advertising, we solicited bids for the purchase of one hundred eighteen (118) student lockers for South Fulton High School. Mr. Frazier requested additional full-size student lockers during our budget hearings (specifications and drawings attached). Last fiscal year we were able to purchase one hundred and four (104) student lockers for South Fulton High School to replace the half lockers, which are not sufficient for high school students. The half lockers will be/are being utilized by the middle school students. We received bids for this purchase as follows:

Southern Facility & Sales – $14,985.00
Dale and Dale – $14,974.00
Townsend Door and Hardware – $13,800.00

Funds for the student lockers are budgeted in the FY13 General Purpose School Fund budget as previously approved by the Board. However, only $12,500 was budgeted for this purchase. We have contacted the low bidder, and the company agreed to extend the unit price per locker to keep the purchase within budget. Therefore, with Board approval, we will purchase 105 student lockers for a total cost of $12,278.00.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the low bid as submitted by Townsend Door and Hardware as set forth above. The per unit price will be used to purchase 105 student lockers for $12,278.00.
